About Us
An
interview with Cheryl Grace Neumann, owner of Grace Décor Consultants.
How
long have you been involved in the decorating business?
I have
been redesigning, decorating and staging homes as a pastime for well over
thirty years. As a young girl, I can remember coming home from grammar
school and hearing my mother say “Come help me move this furniture. Cheryl,
come help me hang this picture”. I continued to help my mother rearrange
furniture and decorate until I left home after high school. I continued to
help friends and other family members throughout the years. So I guess I
can say that the passion for decorating runs in the family. So after years
of working in corporate America, my dream of working in the interior
decorating field became a reality.
Tell
us about your professional background.
Early
in my career as a travel agent, I learned valuable interpersonal and
planning skills as well as outstanding customer service. My career
progressed to working for a major airline and then onto a top Fortune 500
travel/technology company for over twenty years. I gained invaluable
experience as a project manager and general manager managing complicated
projects and leading teams of software developers. My professional
background only enhanced my passion and expertise in the home decorating
field.
Tell
us more about your experience and education.
As a
travel agent I wanted to excel. So I studied and achieved the Certified
Travel Counselor (CTC) designation from the respected Institute of Certified
Travel Counselors. Traveling around the globe from North America, South
America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia Pacific gave me valuable insight to
different cultures and their unique design styles. As a certified Project
Management Professional (PMP®) my education and experience will help me to
ensure that all the details involved in a project will be completed on time
and within the agreed budget. My proven leadership and integrity will help
if any unforeseen challenges surface.
I
recently acquired, what I think is, an extremely important certification for
anyone in this industry. I am now designated as a Professional Certified
Interior Decorator (C.I.D.). Membership in this internationally recognized
organization has provided me with the credentials that are not only
recognized by the trade and wholesale showrooms and most importantly, by my
clients.
Furthermore, achieving a double certification as a Certified Staging
Specialist (CSS) and Certified Redesign Specialist (CRS) provides me with
the additional tools and information in the world of Real Estate Staging and
Redesign.
And I
promise that I will stay up to date with design trends and continue to make
education in this industry a top priority.
Any
personal facts you would like to share?
I am
married to my best friend and mentor, Rick. And I have a wonderful son,
Drew. The men in my life not only support my passion for decorating but are
willing to lift the heavy furniture as well!
I
have many hobbies. To name a few - gardening, bird watching, cooking,
entertaining, traveling and of course, decorating!
Do
you have any last words?
I feel
so fortunate to be in this industry. I have always loved decorating and
working with people. But now it’s my career. Working as a team, I help my
clients create beautiful spaces or help them get their home ready to sell.
The rewards are many. But the best is when my clients tell me how much they
are in love their new space or feel so confident that their staged home will
sell faster. It just doesn’t get any better than that. And that is why I
promise my client’s 100% satisfaction guaranteed!
